[Passing of Tamiya President – Mr. Shunsaku Tamiya] A Tribute from the Hong Kong Mini 4WD Community

It is with great sorrow that we learn of the passing of Mr. Shunsaku Tamiya, President of Tamiya Inc., who departed peacefully on July 19, 2025, at the age of 90.

Mr. Tamiya was the visionary leader who transformed Tamiya from a small wooden model company into a globally respected name in scale modeling, RC cars, military kits, and the beloved Mini 4WD series.

Since the 1980s, Mini 4WD has been a cultural phenomenon in Hong Kong, inspiring generations of youth to build, race, and innovate. Mr. Tamiya’s passion for craftsmanship and commitment to excellence laid the foundation for the thriving Mini 4WD scene we still enjoy today.

He was more than a businessman — he was a pioneer of creative culture.

He brought the joy of Japanese model-making to the world — and to Hong Kong.

On behalf of the Mini 4WD community in Hong Kong — racers, shops, educators, and fans — we extend our deepest respect and heartfelt gratitude.

The wheels are still spinning. Your spirit drives us forward.
